This reasonably priced, all-encompassing solution provides Small to Medium size businesses with near real-time backups that also includes seamless off-site data storage along with multi-year archiving and fast server virtualization capabilities. There are advanced restoration options like file and folder level restorations, with Exchange message and mailbox recovery and bare metal restorations to dissimilar hardware. Within hours, the unique NAS device can also be configured to function as a virtual server if needed. This solution will replace management intensive, error-prone tape backups while providing much more.

This new NAS-based technology performs data backup at the block level where the actual 1's and 0's are captured from the hard drive essentially eliminating failures related to open files. Block level data is raw data which does not have a file structure imposed on it. Database applications such as Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange Server transfer data in blocks without having to worry if files are open or being used. Block transfer is the most efficient way to write to disk. Backups are performed as frequent as every 15 minutes providing clients with an increased amount of restore points when compared to traditional tape backups.

Data is securely sent from the local NAS device to high availability, redundant off-site colocation facilities. All aspects of the on-site and off-site solution are monitored 24X7 by MergerTree's NOC.

How the MergerTree Stratastation Pro™ works?

Installation and Configuration

• The device is shipped to your site
• The device is configured to backup your servers
• The device takes a snapshot or image of the servers in a block level backup
• After the initial snapshot is taken the changes are saved to the device as frequently as every 15 minutes
• If remote storage is purchased, the snapshots are replicated to the Data Centers for secure storage.

Restoration

File/Folder Restoration: Images can be mounted as a volume on the device and then set as a Network Share. Files/Folders can easily be copied to their original location.

Partition Restoration: Partitions are completely restored maintaining all of its pre-failure data and applications.

Bare Metal Restore to Dissimilar Hardware: In the event of a catastrophic failure partitions including the system partition are restored to dissimilar hardware. After performing the partition restorations, a Data Center Engineer will scan the HAL and insert the appropriate drivers.

Virtualization/Off-site Storage

Local Near-Line Disaster Recovery: During a server failure, utilizing Virtualization Technology a Data Center Engineer can perform a complete server restore to the device itself. In no time at all, your Domain Controller, Exchange Server, or SQL server will be up and running with the same IP address, machine name and all its functionality allowing your staff to operate with minimal disruption while new hardware is ordered and installed.

In the event of a complete loss at your location, the Data Center Engineers can perform complete server restores from the offsite storage to a brand new MergerTree Stratastation Pro ™ device and overnight ship the unit ready to function as a temporary server while the new hardware is ordered and installed.
